I just bought a ninja rev B and an X2 to breathe some life into my ASRock 939Dual-Sata2 system.

I did some research, and I found out that plenty of people use the ninja on this motherboard. However I guess I just assumed that if the old ninja fit, the new ninja would fit also

However, the new mounting mechanism for the ninja rev B on socket 939/am2 "turns" the ninja 90 degrees compared to the old ninja, so now the wider heat pipes stick out the narrow "sides" of the 939 cradel. Totally retarded. The wider heatpipes now hit a capacitor along the side of the 939 cradel.

Anybody know what options I have other than trying to return this thing?

I just got off the phone with scythe. They have a used original scythe that they'll swap with me. If the thing they send me works, this will turn out to be a great solution. After I purchased the rev B, I've heard bad things about the new 775 mounting system. If I eventually ever upgrade to a 775 system, it will be nice to have the original ninja.

I would RMA, but I actually want this thing. I got it for $35, and it's hard to find a cooler this good for that price, especially one that you can position the fan in any direction, which is important for me because the socket orientation on my mobo usually makes the heatsink "face" the PSU instead of the rear case fan.

How big of a deal is it if one of the heat pipes touches a cap?
Is the cap going to melt?

Heatpipes don't get that hot...

If anything the cap will melt the heatpipe! :D
