Companies have to get their product out there somehow. I am not bothered by this half as much as you guys obviously are. If I owned a company and advertised, I would also be trying to find new ways to spread word of my product.

How effective could this be anyways? These are very short text display. The messages would be short, probably just the brand/company name only. I know the last thing i would want on my display would be junk advertisement like that.

Exactly. It will be just like e-mail spam. Very aggravating with limited follow through rate, but that 1 percent of people will see it and follow through.
