Nooo.. Mobo problem? or somthing else?

Just finished putting together my first computer with the epox 8dak3j... mobo and an anthlon 64 3000+ now i installed everything the ram etc, i go to plug it in hit the power button and to my dismay it powers up suddenly and then unpower,, FF in the LED box,, one odd thing i noticed is that i was reading mechbgons guide and when it said to install the CPU it said the gold square should point to the lever thing, but the only way the chip would go in is if the gold arrow pointed away.. i dont know if that matters, but if someone could please help me out here im very new to this.. thx in advance.
