I Googled this, and wasn't really surprised I didn't find an answer. I'm interested in a Nook, I have a lot of PDF books I'd like to put on it. I know it has a cover flow type thing for the bottom color screen, would I be able to put my own custom images for the books I don't buy from the B&M store?

I think that the cover flow thing is just for B&N books. Unless there is a way for PDF books to be treated as such, they end up in the "My Documents" folder. No option for cover flow there.

I haven't messed with PDF anything on my nook in a while, don't know if you can put them in that folder and they show up there or what.

A quick google says it's possible if you root it.

It's awesome, one of my favorite toys. Two novels read over the course of the day.

Agreed on everything mentioned. No, you don't get to use the coverflow thing on anything except B&N store books. Yes the Nook is still totally awesome and you should get one.

Just got back and playing with it, once I root it and can add covers for my own PDF book collection it will be perfect :)

AWWWWH CRAP 1.4.1 Nooks can't be rooted what a bummer, doubtful the store will have any 1.4.0 still in stock and it looks like 1.4.1 won't be rootable anytime soon. Looks like this will be going back tomorrow, shoooot :(

Anybody try borrowing ebooks from the public library?

Also, how is the actual battery life?

Is the cover flow deal that important? I don't use it, too slow for my taste. Maybe on nook 2 or something.
