This is a steal. These are refurbed, but they are certified to be in like new condition and come in complete retail packaging as if you bought it from b&n. This is a very nice tablet with good resolution etc.

The nicest thing is that you can root the tablet and replace the barnes and noble junk with a "clean" android install and enjoy all the android goodness.

These will go quickly......

Edit: Looks like it's alive again, for those who missed it earlier:

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and bought one. For this price it's a fantastic deal.

damn...i want a tablet and this is a good price but me and refurbs don't get along. it does have a 1 year warranty though, so would i get a new one if this one stopped working or another refurb?

While a very tempting deal, one thing I've found in my life is that I tend to have room for one laptop and one tablet. And one smartphone.

Any extra devices tend to be ignored.

I have a couple of these - one stock B&N rom and one with CWM 10.1 on it. I actually like the B&N rom and use it more than the other.

In my experience stock B&N rom has a lot of interface lag, it annoyed the hell out of me. I installed CM10.1 which also becomes laggy if I do not reboot my nook for more than a couple of days, however B&N stock is always laggy, even immediately after a reboot. So I'm just cruising with CM10.1 and installed app to automatically reboot it every night at 3am.

Amazing deal. Also the tablet was just officially added to Cyanogenmod. CM10.2(4.3) runs quite well.

I've found the new 10.2 nightlies to run much better than 10.1. Also greatly improved my idle battery life.

might look into this, but i got the nook for my kids when it was on sale a few months ago (for 130 or so iirc). works good enough for them to play games, read, or watch movies during trips and the like. im happy with it and i havent changed anything on it.

I'm waiting for emmc install. Not sure if I want to run from sdcard.

Also looks like cm10.2 is kind of problematic, see here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/EMMC_Bugs

I think I would want to wait until all the major cm10.2 bugs are worked out.

I haven't seen this with stock ROM, but I use the Nova Launcher instead of B&N's crap. I also tried CM 10.1 but battery life on sleep was not as good, it wasn't any faster, and some apps would force close with it because of the newer video driver. I'm sure some if not all of this was resolved, but the stock ROM with an alternate launcher works great for me after it's been rooted and modded to allow sideloads.

Would you mind directing me to some links ( or better even your notes) on What you did to change your launcher\root\mod? I'm new to android, but just ordered one of these for the kids.

A number of hotter deals can be had...

I myself just picked up a 64gb MS Surface RT for $199

And the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is superior to the Nook as well, can be had for $230.

Just look around.

Depends on your use - Nooks screen is 1920x1280 and 9" - tab 7.7 is 1280x800.

I was looking at the surface also this morning, the 32 gb one (refurb) includes the keyboard for $199 also. Not certain but don't these have a slot for a micro SD??
