am getting a new EPOX EP-8KHA+ with an athlon xp 1700 and an alpha pal 4580 heatsin and delta fan
my quesiton basically is when i get all the stuff this week...what is the procedure to correctly assembling the chip to the board with the heatsink....i got artic silver II
i was reading a review that says to clean both the core of the processor ( is it the top ?) and the heat sink with straight alcohol or nail polish remover ???
(sorry if this is a silly question...first time running the newer athlon chips...i am converting from a PIII intel 800)
then to apply the artic silver dab to the HS and spread it with a clean edge of a credit card or such and basically the same to the core of the chip or the top i guess.
once that you have that done just install the chip and install the HS so that it is making even contact on the chip core and screw it down....also that since it has screws or something to install the HS that to watch out for one of the screw bolts from turning since it sits near an exposed part of the EPOX EP-8KHA+ board on the back side
how do you know when you have it tight enough and also when tighting it down it should follow the same rule as when you install a new tire to your car
go in the order 1----3-----2-----4-----and continue??
sorry again for the lame questions but just want to do it right and not break anything
