Hi there,

Im not a noob to computers but I am to wireless technology.
I got asked to build this guy a computer and get him a notebook.
The notebook comes with a onboard wireless LAN 802.11g, the 54Mb one.
And I think the guy will want a wireless pci for the puter too.

My questions are, (since Im used to cat5 networks)

After a bit of research Ive read that the wireless card will attempt to connect with a "Hotspot".
Is this "Hotspot" like a hub???? (in regards to a utp LAN)
Im used to connecting the NIC cables to some point ie) Hub/Switch.

How do you setup the 2 wireless cards to talk to one another?? Since they arent connected?
Will I need to buy some sort of "wireless hub" so the 2 can access each other??

All help is definately appreciated

If he has broadband then just buy a wireless router. There is a linksys one that is highly recommended on these forums.

Just be sure to secure it :)

Wireless Cards can be configured to Infrastructure and then they talk to an Access Point (Hub hotspot as you called it)

Or Install the cards, and choose to configure them as Ad-Hoc Wireless, then they talk one to the other.
