Noob SLI question

In August I bought a BFG 8800 GTS OC2 640 meg card and noticed that they don't sell them anymore, and if I do find them they are really expensive. Can I SLI this card with something that is out right now? Let me know

Thanks 🙂

There were some rumblings about being able to successfully SLI a 640 & a 320, but as far as a G80 GTS and a G92 GT, ain't gonna happen - completely different GPU's.

So I can't get a 320 meg gts or something? Or some GT card and flash the bios and get a new one?

You can use a 320, but it will ignore 320 meg of your other card, only 640 total. Both cards have to be identical, timings, chipset etc. You can downgrade a card so it is the same though.

Best best is to find a 640 Mb G80, will be pleanty of power, grab a used one.

I would double check with Nvidia on being able to do it with the G92-based GTS. IIRC, ChrisRay was saying at one point that it should work as the driver determines compatability partially based on model name. I was also under the impression that the 8800 GTS moniker between the various G80 and G92 versions for this reason.

That was my understanding as well.
