whats a better cpu between the AMD Sempron , and the AMD xp? is AMD Sempron newer and better?

That is a very big question.

All the Sempron except the 3100+ are like Bartons but with only 256KB cache.
The 3100+ is a somehow handicaped A64. ( almost as fast as a A64 with same speed ).

a sempron at a given rating is slower than an athlon xp at the same rating (other than sempron 3100+)

Semprons for Socket A are rebadged 333FSB Thoroughbred Athlon XPs. A Barton is better, but the main people who would build on Socket A right now are probably not the kind who would benefit from the Barton core over the Tbred.

i dont want to over clock it or anything like that. just want a good cpu for a cheap price for high end gaming.
Was looking into AMDs, just not sure wich one.

What graphics card are you looking at? A Sempron might bottleneck you.

the A64 isn't as much as people think now a days. you can get an A64 and NF3 250gb combo from mwave for ~ 200. thats a kick ass pair and you get a decent OC out of the chip, although you said you dont want to OC. below that you'd do well with a mobile barton 2500 or 2400 which can OC to 2.6ghz. really OCing isn't nearly as big of a deal as most poeple think. its something you just gotta try, and then you'll prob never go back.
