Noob Question-removing stock HS from CPU

I'm going to be upgrading the cooling solution on my P4c 2.4 from the stock unit.

This is a silly question, but I don't want to screw anything up...

What is the best method to remove the stock HS? Pull off? Twist off? CPU on the board or off?

I did read the info at arcticsilver.com regarding proper use/instalation of thermal grease. This was quite helpful.

Leave the processor on the board. Just pull up on it slightly with a slight twist.
