Sorry if this is a noob question but I have a e4500 oc'd to 3.3ghz and have about 25C abients. With the blend test I get about 45-47C but in the small FFTs and TAT get about 10C higher. I was wondering If this is normal, I have a tuniq tower 120 for cooling.

normal

actually TAT at 100% should be hotter than Small FFT. just FYI

Yes, that's normal. Orthos/Prime95 represents roughly the maximum achievable power consumption using real world software that actually does useful work. On the other hand TAT is Intel's power virus, a software designed only to maximize power usage.

Thanks guys. I knew it was normal for it to be higher but I didn't know by how much. What is a safe level for the small ffts or tat (my proc only has a 2-3c diff in the two and my thermal spec is 71C, 85Ctjunct) or should I just keep blend under 55 or 60C.

With the recent versions of the Core Temp, you can change the settings so that it will display the delta to Tjunction. This will give you roughly the number of degrees before the CPU throttles. If your delta is 20C or higher, than that's a very safe temperature. Even a delta of only 10C probably won't cause any long-term problems since most applications don't even come close to the Blend test in heat output.

yeah, I run seti 24/7, um, except when they're out of WU's like right now, and I'm 6-8c cooler with that than with orthos blend. I don't run anything else that even comes close to either of them.
