Noob question: I have a preinstalled windows 7 from hp

If I add a SSD, I'll probably need to use it as my main HD in order to benefit from the faster loading. How troublesome is the process of switching my HDD from the regular to SSD? Do i need to reinstall windows and all the apps?

you can google slic2.1 and just learn how to fresh install using your OA license. it is 100% legal since you bought the computer. Essentially grab a retail/technet cd and install it without a key, grab the cert off the dvd or online and the key (off the sticker/dvd/online).

you will forever have a misaligned SSD and that can impair wear leveling and lifespan. reloading your pc, clean without the poopware that hp loads is a very very smart thing to do. i'm gonna just say trust me on this one. it is the best way to go if you have the skills/resources.

What Emulex is saying is a normal HP windows install is polluted with much junk (time limited antivirus, tools/apps ect that are not needed).

These often cause issues and slowdowns. HP do it because they get kickbacks for installing it.

Find a retail CD (or download it) install for your OS and use your current licence to validate it, this gets you a clean install.
