Noob question concerning new MB...

OK, I recently got some new hardware in and am in the process of doing my upgrade. This is my first Intel board in some time (have been using VIA chipsets for the last several years) and want to make sure that everything goes smoothly on my upgrade. I know that on the VIA boards, one always had to install the VIA 4-1 to get everything runing properly. With Intel boards, is it necessary to install the Intel Chipset software? If so, should this be done prior to installing service packs or after?

Thanks for any replies...

Generally, installing the chipset drivers enables all the extra features and adds a little more stability as its programmed to play a little nicer than running generic. It would be best to install the latest drivers first and then Qcahin the hotfixes together.
