Noob question avermedia?? hardware encoding??

I have thisAvermedia and I can't seem to figure out if it uses hardware or software encoding.

I am thinking of using it for my shuttle xpc to tivo...is this good????
 
Whats funny is at the bottom it also says:

Features subject to change without notice

I guess its a good way to cut down on support calls. "You have a problem with what? ....we don't think of that as a feature anymore."
