noob question about geforce 7900gs

I see the 6 pin power connector has two availabe slot for the power molex connector from your power supply. Are both of these required to be connected or just one?
 
I still seem to be getting a blue screen of death everytime the driver beins to load. Im running Vista. Could this be a power supply problem or OS problem?

My bet would be on Vista.
