noob question about bf3 and joysticks

I bought a cheap joystick to fly jets in bf3, and I was wondering how to "turn the joystick off" when I'm not flying and just want to be a grunt. If I'm not flying, I notice weird control issues with normal m&kb, like my guy constantly looking down the scope or issuing ammo until I unplug the joystick from USB. Thanks
 
You need to go to controls and unbind the joystick keys from functions that you don't want it to do. The same key or button can be assigned to like 3 different functions and will make your game screwy.
I got a joystick setup and I leave it turned on and ready to go.

Ah ok. I thought there would be a switch or combo of buttons to press to go between joystick controls and m&kb. Thanks. I'll fool around with it this weekend some more.
