Noob question - 9800GT

Does this make a difference to any other components on the setup im building?
The mobo for instance - Will i have to get a DDR3 motherboard?

It's just the kind of RAM the 9800 GT uses. It's also called GDDR3. And, no, you don't need a GDDR3 motherboard.

It's actually referring to GDDR3, and it's not to be confused with the DDR3 dimms used on some motherboards. Two different things.

It means it uses DDR3 for it's onboard memory, 1GB worth.

Text Probably a better card for the price but I'll let someone else comment on that as well.

The DDR3 part doesn't but the only reason you should be looking at a 9800GT 1GB is if you're running a resolution of 1920x1200 or higher. In other words, you probably don't need a 1GB model and can save some money getting a 512 or put that money into getting a better card (a 9800gt is just a glorified 8800gt).

Yeah DDR3 is for motherboards and GDDR3 for video cards.
