Noob Q. when is the time...

when you know that your memory can't take it and maybe need to push up the voltage to get more

Same with the CPU Voltage

When you get as fast as it will go with your current voltage and you think it might take more 🙂 AFAIK, you just keep upping the voltage one notch at a time, seeing what it will do at each step until you reach the max safe OC.

thx crazy, but what actually makes u think is the memory? or the cpu?

and maybe catch ya later in tango.. hehe

You start by going as high as you can with a 1:1 mem ratio, then once you've hit the ceiling, you back down on the FSB, up the mem ratio (to say 4:5) and see how high the RAM will go. If your RAM will go higher than what you were getting with 1:1 then your CPU is holding you back, but if your RAM tops out at about the same speed as when you were running 1:1 then its probably your RAM. Just make sure you don't put in *too* much voltage on either one. I think the max safe vcore is 1.7v (for stock HSF) and 2.8v for the vdimm.

ok I just borrowed a friend's Corsair 2700 ram, I push it to 166FSB, and apparently .1 volt aint' gonna cut it.. so i push it to .2 so now it's 1.7 volt running at 166FSB. Prime95 is doing good now, looks like it's gonna be a winner at this point. Another thing is on the P4B533 ddr voltage.... it has 2.6, 2.7, then 2.9 what happened to 2.8? I pumped it to 2.7 didn't want to go to 2.9 and kill my friend's memory. Is this good? Temp right now is 58 full low under prime95... will prolly go higher in the day time. hope this isn't too much 4 my brand new 2nd day cpu............ ok now i go to sleep and praying I don't wake up to a frozen comp or dead cpu... 😛

hehe, no I'm using AS2 but with the stock heatsink and fan.... going to get a Volcano 7+ soon...

Oh btw, to get the AS2 off what do I need? Will rubbing alcohol work fine?
