If I order something through my verified PayPal account, but I don't have enough money in my account to cover the cost, will PayPal take the money directly from my linked bank account, or will it just not go through? Or does it take from whatever's left in the account first, then draw from the bank account?
 
It will take it out of your account, than credit card.

If the money is not in account you will get a NSF charge, whether the money is taken off your credit card or not. (which is Paypal's second take if you have it on your account).
