nOOb networking question

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be signing up for Comcast High Speed internet soon, and will be using a wireless/wired router. I will be using one of the wired ports for my computer (I'm under the assumption that this is the best route for internet gaming), and the wireless portion for my father's laptop one floor below.
I'm wondering if this is possible, and if Comcast allows connection sharing

Any information is appreciated.

As long as you have a good signal wireless is fine for gaming also, maybe adds an extra few ms, but nothing you'll notice.

Thanks for the replies!

This should be fine, as long as the router is set up to be the dhcp server for your lan.

I'll keep that in mind. Obviously, I'll have to google up some networking guides. Or, do you have one that you recommend?

Well, since I'll be mostly playing FPS, ping is important. Admittedly, wireless is more desirable because the router and modem will be in another room. I'd rather not have to deal with running wires between rooms. I guess it's a tradeoff.

i prefer wired just because you'll never lose the connection to the router. with wireless theres a chance you might lose the connectivity. also routers setup these days are very straight foward, plug in the cables, restart the computer and you're set.
