I have a lot of mpeg and wmp nd some other file types on my PC. I cannot seem to figure out how to copy them onto a disc to make a VCD or DVD-just something that will play on my DVD player. I dont know if the file types need to be converted, in which case is there a free program to do this? I am familiar w/burning DVD-but cant seem to get these files onto a disc. I mean I have used programs that said they were being biurned onto disc-then they wont play on my dvd player or on my PC so something didnt work. Please help me and if you can give kind of detailed info it would be appreciated bc I am a noob. thanks

I see the website link, but am pretty computer illiterate-what is it called to do what I am trying to do? I mean I see things to do a million different things on there, but it is confusing to me. sorry. can anybody help me please?

Maybe this is a good starting point.

You're converting an MPEG to a VCD.

There's no 1-2-3 easy way to explain video conversion and mastering. If you want to do this, start reading.

It is much easier if you use either Roxio or Nero to make a vcd. All you have to do is select the vcd option in the wizard. Then drag all the mpeg1-compliant video files to a window and select burn. Note the files must be mpeg1 which is 352 × 240, 1150 kbps, 29.97 fps, etc... Tmpgenc can take most files and make them vcd-ready. Mpeg-1 files are what you want. VCD is not a file format, but the mpeg1 file burned to a cdr in a certain format.

There is a free program for VCD's, but it is old and might not even support your burner.
VCDEasy

Note that to make a VCD, you need to use a cdr. You cannot take a blank dvdr and make a vcd. When a dvd player sees video on a dvdr, it expects something burnt like a dvd movie. So, if you want to burn hours(about 7) onto a dvdr, you just use a dvd authoring program that supports the inputting of mpeg1 files. A regular vcd made with a cdr is limited to just under 80 minutes of mpeg1 video.

thanks-do you know of a program for dvd authoring that allows the input of mpeg1-or AVI, or even wmv? VCD is an option-but also dvd if it is just as easy to do. thanks
