I'd like to start developing some .Net apps that download text messages to phones, but I don't know much about it. I've found the sdks, tools, emulators, etc., and I know I can program from my computer to talk to my phone but I don't quite understand what hardware is needed.
My thinking is that I need a wireless NIC and a bluetooth adaper for my phone in order to write real apps to send to my phone. Is this correct?
Also, can someone explain how this would work at my web hosting service's end? Do I need to find a hosting service that explicitly advertises support for mobile app development? I don't quite understand how the signal from my app running on my web hoster's server gets "out there" to the phones which my app would send data to.
Any help would be appreciated.
