ok, so lets say I have an RF signal. I want to run it through two filters that are in parallel, so I have to split the signal, and then re-combine it after it goes through the filters.

If I use a power divider to split it, when I recombine the signal I will end up with half the power I started with.

Heres the noob question:

If I just use something like an SMA splitter, will this still divide the power in half between the two lines?

yup, you'll lose ~3 dB plus insertion loss of the device (probably negligible)

Yeah, I took a few EE classes on my way to an ME degree. Though I could maybe help you out.

Not so much, though.
