A do that everyone screws up is updating their bios, It must be done otherwise you will not get the full performance. Also while updating the bios make sure to unplug the computer half way through the update, this will ensure a proper bios transfer.

Do: Since dust makes circuits heat up faster, make sure your motherboard is clean and dust-free before you put it in the case. Warm water and a mild detergent should do the trick.
