When I use a tester it shows that one wire is messed up,I have tried cutting fresh wire and using a new jack and while it did improve it on one cable run(four were showing open before) one was still open.
And what about the sheild what should I be attaching it to?
We need more info on the installation to help you. Personally I find toolless = junk. Get a good 110 punch for $60 and use 110 keystones. If you have a shield you are most likely using the wrong wire for networking. Shielded has very specific installation requirements that are typically beyond a home do it myselfer. Done incorrectly the shield will act like an antenna and inject noise in to the system rather than block it. The wire you buy often should be the same brand as the keystones. IE Belken wire with Belken keystones etc. Most systems are tested end to end ie keystone - wire - keystone and may fail to pass spec terminated with another companies keystone.
