none of my ac3 encoded avis are playing sound

they work ok in VLC player but not media player or divx player

Try installing the K-lite codec pack

It installs and configures many codecs.

it doesn't seem to work,it installs ok and has me uninstall a lot of stuff but media player still wont play ac3 audio

The pack contains an ac3 codec so the file may not have ac3 audio. Open it with vlc and go view>media and streem info.

it is ALL files with ac3 audio that do not work,I used gspot on everyone of them to confirm the codec
