I am wondering about this too. In my state they are only doing 65+, underlying conditions, front line workers. That can't include more than a handful of Anandtech posters...

Dunno. There are more than a handful of old farts in here and more than a few of them are almost there. Ask @Captante , he knows. He was alive way back then when Jimmy Hendrix was alive.

depends on the state. some states have big lists while other states ignore medical conditions entirely and go strictly on job and age.

Darn it. Being too cute and adorable as myself is not a medical condition? :grinning:

I was 5 when Hendrix died just to clarify! :D

And being old is my only qualification at the moment.

Not one YOU need to be concerned about! :p

Well I'm just back from getting Moderna #1. (yay!) :D

So far a little tenderness/redness @ the injection-point and the muscles in my left arm are feeling a little weird but no "throat-swollen-shut" type reactions so that's a plus!

;)

I got my appointment @ an area CVS run clinic and I have to say that compared to what I've heard about the big state/CDC run sites it went like clockwork. In and out in a grand total of 20 minutes including the 15 they keep you there to make sure of no reaction. I encourage everyone to go either there or another privately run operation if possible.

Shot #2 scheduled for April 5th @ 12:15 pm same place. :)

Can I get your stuffs by April 6th? Too soon? Ok, I will wait a few days. :D

In other news, some countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc.) are "planning" to open their borders for vaccinated tourists by later this year, probably in the summer.

Not sure if already posted, but - for Texas at least, CVS does its primary appointment "inventory" updates starting at 3a CT. Nabbed 6 appointments last week simply by virtue of being nocturnal. They've also started receiving large amounts of J&J stock... last Friday morning there were 53 locations offering the PB&J vaccine for the DFW suburb I searched.

Walmart may have fixed this by now, but as of last week their online vaccine scheduler displayed appointments for the next seven days based on the local time reported by your browser. So by changing my system clock to a timezone already past midnight I was able to see and book appointments that technically shouldn't have been viewable in my area. Gaming the system? Maybe, but the way I see it, the TX government basically said "screw you guys, every man for himself," so...

Can post some other vaccine tracking I've run across if someone wants it. A decent amount of it is TX-centric, so I'll hold off for now

I'm taking an in-person class. The instructor showed us his wand, his UV LED COVID-killing wand that it. They don't work at all but he had fun waving the COVID away from table tops and flip charts.

In addition to this if you are in HEB land their appointments go up mostly Tuesday and Wednesday. Very gettable with an auto refresh plugin running on their page, the individual store pages are also stalkable this way if you want to go somewhere specific. They're giving the J&J at some stores too.

Heard they just set up a vaccine clinic in my city. I think they're only doing more critical people right now, but it's getting there. Kind of hoping to get mine this year as one of my aunts has terminal cancer but if I go visit her I rather be vaccinated, just to be on the safe side. I originally was going to wait as long as reasonably possible to get the vaccine but this changes things. That and with lack of supply I think I'm better off getting it when I can.

Just got word we have our first positive in the office here. Some folks were exposed roughly thursday or friday of last week. The person who I think it might be is not someone I would usually engage with, and I was out of the office last friday so I think I'm in the clear but I'll go get tested tomorrow morning on the way in to work. My director has sent 3-4 people home for right now though and they won't be back until possibly monday if they have no symptoms I guess.

I'm going to agree with this. For the most part, if you signed up for a specific phase there has been no validation tied to that when you showed up for your shot. I will say that last week in the tiny town I work in, they had a 55+ clinic at the school and they did check IDs there.
Yeah, Oklahoma opened Phase 3 today for "essential workers" (i.e. you have a job, pretty sure porn viewer is listed on the essential jobs list). Anyways, I got it this morning, they didn't even check my ID, much less any other proof of eligibility.

Checked in on Novavax and looks like they are targeting May possibly for FDA EUA.
That's what my wife and MIL got. The big question is whether or not the FDA will accept the foreign trial data. If the FDA accepts it, they could file for EUA late March, early April. They've told my wife they will unblind her once the EUA is filed, although they definitely got the real thing.

Has Bill Gates contacted you with further instructions yet?
No, there is no chip in it! Come on.

In other news after I got the shot today, I decided to check out Bing, it is amazing, how come no one talks about it? It's now my default search on all devices. Also, I realize how controlling the Apple environment is, so I throwaway my iPhones and bought some used Windows phones.

Did you guys know hotmail is still around? Wow, deleted my gmail account and got my old hotmail account from 1996 fired up again, could you believe it had over a million messages? The free storage is great, thank you Microsoft!

How are so many of you getting vaccines already? Are you old and/or essential workers? I figure I'm not due one until the very end of this.
@Captante is in Conn which has been killing it and I'm in Oklahoma that has also been killing the roll out.

I got it as an essential worker, but I am not sure how any job would not qualify in Oklahoma, it is an extremely extensive list. I'd look over any list given for your state and don't just assume you that you aren't "essential."

Also BMI >30 or previous smoker works in a lot of states right now.
