Just got the word, campus is halting classes for 3 weeks. Virtual classes after that, we'll see how it goes.

I'm on WFH status until further notice. Time to start doing some springtime outdoor work!

Probably has to be both direct support to ordinary citizens and sector help to prop up businesses. And a yuuuuge number.

That's why I don't think the shutdowns will last that long. I know some people are talking two more months... the US economy can't take two more months.

One thing that would help businesses and households during these shut downs is to halt all bills. Property taxes, hydro, insurance etc... Lot of costs of doing business and living are not really around the actual operations but just all the bills that have to be paid. So halt all those costs, and then with the operations not happening, it will not cost that much to not be in business during that time. They won't MAKE money, but they won't lose any either.

Certain things will take 2+ months. Others won't.

Airlines for example - after 3 weeks or whatever people aren't going to magically want to start flying the next day. It will be 2-3 months MINIMUM for the travel industry to get even remotely close back to normal.

All the supermarkets around my area look like this:

Things seem to be getting real in Cali.

Only things that perish real quickly seem to be left on the shelf.

Walmart is putting a limit on certain items like toilet paper. Good. Hope other stores follow suit.

Smart and Final had limit 2 on TP, and Water.
You can mix and match tho, so i saw like people carry out 6 waters from 3 different companies.

amazon is also following up on not allowing scalpers.

I'm actually feeling a bit sick in my throat and sinuses since yesterday. Not severe enough for me to describe as "sore" and it's not in my lungs yet. Probably nothing major but I will monitor (of course).
Pollen has started around here...

Who said anything about being ignorant to location? Everyone knows where it came from. The WHO simply does not believe (among others) that using a locale delimiter in the name is counterproductive.

... Don't be ignorant.
Follow the post I quoted.

China has already been caught directing their officials to call it "Italian Virus" (leaked documents). They also tried Japanese Virus and now they've moved on to blaming the USA.

And that's why it has to be called Wuhan Coronavirus as often as possible. Stick it to the Chicoms for their misinformation campaign.

They need to create a site offering toilet paper for download. Just print it out yourself. Save $$$.
Oh oh, newspaper can add like ten blank sheets with headline "free toilet paper included" that would revive their business!

"Italian Virus" actually makes it sound cool, like if you get it, you get an uncontrollable craving for pasta and pizza and start swearing a lot with your hands.
