To be fair, Australia and New Zealand do have new cases of the virus recently.

I made this point earlier in the thread: They are basically 2 of the most developed countries and they are some of the few that have reported cases. Also South Africa.

What does that tell me?

There's a shitload more cases in southern hemisphere that aren't being reported under craphole countries.

I'm not worried about getting the virus as a healthy adult. I am however worried about my parents and my kids.

My bro-in-law's restaurant is already took a 30% hit in sales past weekend. Sucks.

I canceled a $900 hotel reservation a couple days ago when the comicon in Seattle was cancelled. Not to mention all the restaurants I won't be eating at. That city is taking a huge hit.

How will COVID-19 play out in America over the next year? What are your thoughts?

Will this virus change the way that we conduct our lives? Do you think that we will get back to some type of normal, or will we see huge sweeping changes? What about our health care system, and the middle class? How much of an impact economically will this have on our lives?

India and Egypt and Singapore are north of the equator. GD. geography is important.

Wow. I’m a dumbass. At least Singapore is super close to the equator!

To be fair, Australia and New Zealand do have new cases of the virus recently.

No fairness needed; I’m a dumbass. Unfortunately it does seem to be spreading capably in warm climates.

PSA: If your still looking for hand sanitizers, try looking for a local Bath and Body Works.
They are selling 1oz travel sizes for $2.00 or 5 for $8.00 (limit 10)

And since they are limiting, most of the chain stores have them in stock. (Best to call the store and directly ask).
Its still a bit on the expensive side, but not EBAY Scalper prices, and they smell a whole lot better then the pure alcohol ones.

Now can someone explain to me why people are stocking up on twinkies and ding dongs?

Red keeps one in his freezer. Winters are long.

Hey it's not a fetish it's for science! Trying to see if I can incubate a super species of ice hardened humanoids.

Maybe we should hold up in some basement in the middle of the woods.
We could make a new civilization. We could plant our own crops. :)

Been looking into off grid land and I know of a couple 100 acre parcels for sale, would make a nice spot for a village. :p

While waiting for my doctor in a waiting room in January 2019, I took a picture of this illustration of how to properly wash your hands:

Pretty sure 55ga is bulk. And it's online!

Yeah. I've only been able to get alternator-sized liter bottles at Fry's Electronics and Microcenter. ;)

Seriously though: Their largest "PUREtronics Electronics Cleaning Grade 99.9%" isn't nearly enough to fill up a 3-gallon ultrasonic cleaner. Not sure I'm able to take delivery of a 55ga drum tho'. Not even sure if it's legal to store residentially. D: $760 isn't so bad though. About $1,000 off the Fry's/Micro price.

Way too complicated for me. And who the hell starts a list at 0?
lol, I did not even notice steps started at zero. Also, they dont say how to dry your hands and they want you to leave the water running the entire time. I think this is just the hospital doctor version of "employees must wash hands" sign at restaurants. If you are doing surgery then yes, by all means do all that, if not... meh.

I found this article to be interesting....from a Dr. in Canada!!
I'm a doctor and an Infectious Diseases Specialist. I've been at this for more than 20 years seeing sick patients on a daily basis. I have worked in inner city hospitals and in the poorest slums of Africa. HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis,TB, SARS, Measles, Shingles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria...there is little I haven't been exposed to in my profession. And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared.
I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.
What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they " probably don't have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know..." and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.
I am scared that travel restrictions will become so far reaching that weddings will be canceled, graduations missed and family reunions will not materialize. And well, even that big party called the Olympic Games...that could be kyboshed too. Can you even imagine?
I'm scared those same epidemic fears will limit trade, harm partnerships in multiple sectors, business and otherwise and ultimately culminate in a global recession.
But mostly, I'm scared about what message we are telling our kids when faced with a threat. Instead of reason, rationality, openmindedness and altruism, we are telling them to panic, be fearful, suspicious, reactionary and self-interested.
Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it. Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviors and "fight for yourself above all else" attitude could prove disastrous.
I implore you all. Temper fear with reason, panic with patience and uncertainty with education. We have an opportunity to learn a great deal about health hygiene and limiting the spread of innumerable transmissible diseases in our society. Let's meet this challenge together in the best spirit of compassion for others, patience, and above all, an unfailing effort to seek truth, facts and knowledge as opposed to conjecture, speculation and catastrophizing.
Facts, not fear. Clean hands. Open hearts. Our children will thank us for it.
