Looks like zinc lozenges are becoming harder to find.

edit: if you want to use zinc lozenges, allegedly you need at least 13mg of Zinc per dose. Only a few brands have that. You might be able to take multiple doses of other lozenges to achieve the same effect. Cold-eeze is one brand that has 13mg or more per dose, and I think Nature's Way has a product that offers the same thing.

I checked like 5 stores this morning and all zinc lozenges were out of stock. I did manage to find one CVS with some so I bought CVS store brand. It doesn't list the Zinc dosage so I'm assuming it's less than 13mg. I started taking it today because I think my wife passed me her cold.

Not only is this inexcusably political in a thread where it isn't allowed, but the reports of Donald Trump calling it a hoax were themselves a hoax. It's hoax-ception.

He said that their reporting about him was a hoax and then you get Michael Moore and others delusionally embarrassing themselves by claiming that Trump called the virus a hoax. You're better than that.

There's nothing "stupid" about buying more of the things you want now so you aren't tempted to go out for more later when you should be isolating yourself. It has nothing to do with people stupidly thinking that the tap will be contaminated or there won't be TP to go around.

You might buy TP now so you don't want to needlessly expose yourself to get it later... or end up dealing without it in order to maintain your isolation. Wouldn't you rather just buy more now than use wash cloths? Well, they feel the same way. I felt I already had plenty of TP so I didn't buy any but if I felt I might run out in the next couple months I would have bought some more with ZERO shame.

I use lot of toilet paper. I admit I make hand turban when I wipe my butt. My daughter does the same. My wife conserves and only uses few sheets at a time while I might use quarter of a roll. I have several cases of TP from Costco and have no shame having some at hand. I don't want to have to run around and hunt for TP to be in stock at some store when I'm running low. That would suck so bad if I had to camp out to buy TP like people did for Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2.

Yes but there is a difference between buying a cart full of TP of practically a 2 year supply (see the video I posted above) - and just buying another normal 24pk that you would normally buy every couple months.

Hell, I always have lots of TP and Paper towels in my garage (at all times) because I buy based on when there are good deals - not if there is a virus going around.

It's been explained. People are preparing to stay home and isolate themselves. Some people don't like/drink tap water. Their preference for bottled water has nothing to do with the virus. Some people also don't like running out of toilet paper and exposing themselves to potentially infected people to get more when they could have just bought more to begin with. If you'd rather wash fecal rags then why do you buy toilet paper normally?

While the carts and pallets we see people buying are excessive,l and some probably are simple stupidity, there are many other possible explanations. Maybe the person runs an orphanage or a boarding school! 😉 They could be buying for other households... friends and family. Heck, they could be buying to scalp.

No one said that increased self-sufficiency and domestic manufacturing capacity in the future can help with this novel outbreak. That part of the discussion is about how supply issues with this outbreak can help us improve for future novel outbreaks. Discussing this is extremely relevant and shouldn't upset anyone.

BTW, the number of reported cases is going down in South Korea. They reported 272 new cases which is the lowest reported in 10 days. I expect cases in South Korea to keep decreasing. I think they passed the peak and the entire country and the residents are being very aggressive battling the virus. But they have experience battling major virus outbreaks.

Does it? Is the minuscule amount of "dissolved" plastic shown to be harmful? Is it shown to be related to BPH?

I suppose it dissolves a tiny bit of glass or ceramic from your bottles and cups? Or maybe whatever your pipes are made from?

If all you drink is bottled water maybe it will be harmful over time since you'll just keep accumulating it in your body. The body can't really break down plastic either so it just starts to get lodged in your fat cells, liver and maybe even brain. Your body just does not know how to deal with it. I imagine over long term it can't be good for you. Most sea wild life is dying from micro plastics, or in the case of larger creatures like whales, just plastic in general. So there's no reason why it can't do the same to us if we drink water that has small bits of plastic in it.

How you store bottled water probably matters too, if it's in the sun it probably dissolves faster from the UV. Ex: at the beach.
