Non-updated bios on ASUS A7V266 with Athlon xp, will it damage my system?

I have been using my new computer for a few weeks now and I went to flash my bios because I was hanging on boot. I then realized that I had the 1002b bios and its the 1002c that adds Athlon XP support. I assumed that I had the right bios because THE BOX SAID THAT IT IS ATHLON XP COMPATIBLE. Did using my system for a while with wrong bios damage my system or did it just cause a few performance issues?

Not likely, the only issue would be Vcore setting. If you left the mobo in JumperFree mode, it should work, but perhaps it detects a t-bird, run the bus as 200Mhz.

Updated my bios to revision 1006. It actually detects it as an Athlon XP 1600+ instead of an N-class AMD processor. Slight decrease in 3dmark2001 performance but no more processor problems. One last question, I have been getting slightly higher temps than expected (although it could be do to my ASUS board), what do you set the THEMCPU jumper to, Athlon/Duron or Reserved? Thanks
