Non-Tailed Panaflo, what do I do?

I bought a Panaflo 80mm H1A fan from case-mod.com and I found out that the case fan is not tailed when it arrived here. It did not specifically tell you that it is not tailed so I thought it was. It is now too late for that though. There are 3 bare wires, and Im going to use it to put on my Heatsink, what kind of tail do I need, 4 pin or 3 pin? Also I looked on this mother board that I have and the that is on it looks like it has this small 3 pin tail or something its red and the bare wires are going into the tail and into the motherboard. Anyways what kind of tail would I need and where can I actually get it for like 99 cents, without shipping being $8.00 while the product is 99 cents.. THATS CRAZY..

might be able to get that part at fry's or a similar electronics hardware store. heck, maybe even home depot has something suitable.

You can splice it onto your 4 pin power connector, just hook the red wire to the red wire and the black to the black. If you want to be able to see the RPM stats, hook the white wire up to the 3rd pin on the plug on your mobo. To be safe use some good electrical caps and such, maybe even solder the connections as your CPU fan is pretty important 🙂 And no bear wires is a must as stuff shorts easily (and thus dies easily too).

Ok, just for reference:

from the Power Supply:
yellow is 12v
red is 5v
black is ground

from the fan:
Red is 12v
black is ground
the 3rd wire (blue?) is RPM monitoring.

if you go the 4pin tail route you'll get something that will connect to the 3pins on your fan (you'll notice that those wires coming off the fan are connected via a plug) and to a 4pin connector like what your hard drives use. If you go the 3pin route you'll get something that will connect to a motherboard connector & will support RPM monitoring.

It's up to you if you get a 3pin or a 4pin, just depends on which is easier for you to hook up. Also remember that some higher power fans might be too much for a 3pin motherboard connector. You could make your own connector, but it's only $.99 to buy one, so no real need to go that way (unless you have parts lying around). Just go to pcmods.com & they should have them (you'll want the panaflow tails).
