Hi all,

Friend computer:

Compaq 5300 celeron 1.1, xp home

Just yesterday she got the following error on bootup:

"Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready"

I have dont he following:

1. Checked memory sticks. They are fine.
2. Changed bootup order in bios to start with HDD.
a. unplugged cd-rom drive
b. unplugged floppy
3. Tried booting with another hard drive that I know was fine.
4. Changed jumper settings on hard drive (Just gave it a try)

No matter what configuration I did we got that error.

I have googled it and tried everything.

We cant find the xp home disc but I do have an xp pro. Do you guys think I will be able to install a new operating system? I am guessing that is the next step.

Thanks in advance, Leigh
