Any good, not horrendously expensive and not ugly as sin options besides shuttle? I like the look of the KPC, but the graphics are weak. I dislike the look of all of the XPCs.

TIA

Everyone else is gone in the sub-mATX barebones market unless you drop down to mini-ITX which seems very overpriced.

A shuttle guy in the sudhian.com forums said the next version of the KPC out this Summer will replace the PCI slot with a PCI-E. Sadly it will still be 945 with poor integrated graphics and there still won't be a digital audio header on the motherboard.

If you don't want to wait, pair a mATX motherboard with an Ultra Microfly or Aprevia QPack but those are much bigger :(

Not a WHOLE lot. In fact I doubt there's anything that isn't built for vertical applications. I like SFF, see my sig. But MicroATX is basically the only option that has any decent diversity of hardware support. And that's still a lot bigger than the XPC shuttles.

Some of the Shuttles are bad-ass little machines. I love mine.

shuttle-like computers used to be more popular 3 or so years ago. but now that you can buy really cheap laptops these days, i think the market for them shrunk

Not really. I have a k45 and it is perfect. It is small, and it supports quad cores. For what I do with it, I don't need PCI-e cards in it, besides, most PCI-e cards that you put in a SFF like the shuttles will severely strain the power supply, if you're trying to game with it. The sub matx boxes aren't meant to be gaming monsters. Mine is strictly for web surfing and music. Though it can run HD if I want to hook it to the TV.

You have a shuttle K45. The point being that the market has shrunk and Shuttle is the last remaining cube maker.

The K45 is nice and at a great price. The main complaints I have are lack of ICE heatsink included, and no digital audio output on the motherboard just analog.
