Non-reference cooler compatibility with reference r9 290(x)

Will a windforce or tri x cooler be able to be installed on a 290/290x that was bought with a reference cooler on it? Supposedly the windforce and tri-x cards use reference PCBs so guessing it should, but figure I might as well ask

Take a look at Techpowerup reviews and compare the board layout for the different cards. Might be able to tell that way.

As far as I know all AMD ref design cards have the AMD logo next to the pci-e connector. Looking at the current gigabyte's on newegg none of them have the AMD logo. The TriX's are ref design so the cooler should fit all ref design boards. Safe bet would be the TriX cooler as long as your card is a ref design....Look for the AMD logo to verify. All cards with the ref cooler should be ref design but a quick look won't hurt.

The Tri-X is definitely a reference pcb
