I asked this once about 3-5 months ago and like a dummy didnt keep the answer in my head. I have an older Shuttle (shoe box) machine witha 250 Watt PSU. It currently has a ATI X800XT (I think?, no label on it) The fan is failing and it appears I have artifacts (its a 3rd machine and I was lazy). It gets used for games quite often by friends (mostly WoW, but some other games too) so far its held up well, but if I am going to replace the Vid card, waht are some peoples suggestions? Or was the X800XT about as good as it gets?

Keep in mnd it has to be single slot heatsink as this machne has no room, it also cant be to long.

You could get a ATI 5670. They are pretty good for the price and do not require external power. There are several single slot ones.

Just as an example:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-466-_-Product

looks like an option, with a I7 it appears it pulls about 180W at load (pushing it for that small PSU), with a AMD 3800 (what it does have)it might do ok. Price inst a huge deal, but since Im going lowend was hopeing for a bit cheaper then $90.

anybody else?

These recommendations are PCI-e cards. If you really need a PCI card, ignore everything so far.

I think the 9500GT is about the best out there, pretty pricey for what you're getting though. I don't really think it's worth it. If the card itself isn't failing, just the fan, I would just replace the fan and/or heatsink.
