Focus on the Family founder James Dobson makes spectacle of non-partisan event.
Dobson leads off by saying the National Day of Prayer is not about politics. Referring to the fact that this is the 20th year of this particular observance, he says he "has never made any kind of political statement and [he] won't do it today."

Then he proceeds to make a political statement. After couching his remarks in the cloak of "morality," he goes on to say "President Obama, before he was elected, made it very clear that he wanted to be the abortion president." He continued with his exaggeration, saying "in a real sense, he is the abortion president."

After rambling on about a $1 surtax for the support of abortion, without missing an opportunity to also opine about how taxes always skyrocket, he claimed this "tax" would go to Planned Parenthood.

California Representative Hahn walks out after Dobson ruins the spirit of the event.

Why do some people have to ruin everything? Focus on the Family is such a shitty organization and they need to have their tax exempt status revoked.

I wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not.

Dobson has always mixed politics into everything he speaks/writes about and into what his organization does. I used to go to Fraud On The Family's website just to see what they were promoting and talking about; you have to know your enemy and their plans.

He's pretty much a caricature of himself these days; that and using the Ann Coulter gambit of saying outrageous things when he has a book to promote.

The trouble with him and other televangelists/preachers is they ran out of G-d's words a long time ago.

Too bad this isn't the UK where you could just have him arrested for saying things liberals dislike :\

This. The liberals would love this since many of them don't believe in free speech.

Also why are politicians even there? Many of them are fake Christians. Obama did support planned parenthood and said they do good work. Also why did that politician run away? What was she scared of? She can't accept that obama is being criticized.

Ok, let's go through the stupidity of this post one piece at a time.

This is a non-partisan (or supposed to be) event. Your definition of real vs fake Christian is clearly a poor reflection of reality. If a politician chooses to take part in a event such as this which is supposed to have no political agenda, that's their choice.

Obama did support planned parenthood and said they do good work.
Um, they do. They're a fantastic organization that provides a huge amount of medical support to mostly women. They do significantly more good for people of all faiths in this nation than Focus on the Family does ( I expect nehalem to respond to this part with one of his stock attacks on women)

Also why did that politician run away? What was she scared of? She can't accept that obama is being criticized.
It's called protest. She left because what was supposed to not be a partisan or political event was being turned into one by a piece of shit human being. She left in protest.

You clearly misunderstand the entire concept of free speech as you so regularly prove.

Too bad this isn't the UK where you could just have him arrested for saying things liberals dislike :\
You are functionally retarded and quite possibly without the functionally part. Tax exempt organizations are not supposed to be primarily political. This event is not supposed to be partisan or political. Dobson's actions as a representative of Focus on the Family were wholly political. It is not a non-political organization and should not by law have tax exempt status. They are free to say what they want but they cannot receive tax exemptions if what they choose to say is political.

Sure they can:
Focus on the Family's 501(c)(3) status prevents them from advocating any individual political candidate.[33] In its radio broadcast, it often discusses political issues and current events, usually from a Christian conservative point of view. Dobson is among the Christian conservative leaders who met with and advised former President George W. Bush. Focus on the Family's magazine Citizen is exclusively devoted to politics

Planned parenthood provides abortions and they take tax dollars yet you call them a great organization.

Partisan politics will be the downfall of our system. Mark my words.

You act like all they do is provide abortions. Get a clue.

As has been pointed out you are incorrect. If this were the case any black church who has had a Democrat take the pulpit would be subject to the same penalty. Clearly they are not.

IMO I would rather have Dobson out of politics and there would NEVER EVER be a politician in a church speaking out on anything political.

You are 1000% wrong!!
Politics will be the downfall of this country!!

Politics is partisan. The first President George called it when he said that parties would be the downfall of our nation and when forensics are done on our nation, whenever it expires, we'll find that some party hack was the catalyst at the very least. All for the Greater Good of course, that being someone's promotion in power or a fatter wallet.

Well, clearly they messed up when they weren't able to contact your mother early enough during her pregnancy.
