I've got some smallish hi-fi speakers about 18cm away from my LCD monitor, one on each side. I'm pretty sure that they are not magneticall shielded, thre doesnt seem to be any interfierance right now, but could there be over time? i've just spent 50quid on the LCd, dont really want to bug*er it. The tweeters on teh speakers are pertty small, teh woofers? are about 9cm in diameter, pretty small.

thanks for any help.

not sure on this but i don't think that lcd's are affected by magnetic interference.

CRT's are effected because the magnetic waves bend the electric pulses as they fire towards the screen, but lcd's dont use this method.

better get some confirmation on this before u sue me, try google? or maybe howstuffworks

With an LCD you are pretty safe. If there is no problem now, there won't very likely be in the future unless something changes materially. From an audio standpoint, that is not an ideal location for speakers in that you have lousy stereo separation with them less than 4-5 feet apart. For best sound, put the speakers about 5 feet apart - on the wall if necessary, and put a sub-woofer on the floor with the port about 3 inches away from and facing the wall.
