Hi all,

I'm having lots of trouble finding a low-end laptop with a matte (non-glossy) screen. I'm looking for a 14 or 15" laptop between $500-$700. A few business models seem to fit this description, but I am looking for a laptop that has comparable specs to a regular (i.e. glossy, unfortunately) laptop in this price-range, e.g., I would prefer a non-Celeron CPU.

For example, does the Lenovo Thinkpad Edge have a non-glossy screen? I get the impression that it does, but the website is unclear.

Any suggestions of specific non-glossy models would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Hi, thanks for the suggestion metalmania! it is exactly what I am looking for. I am having trouble deciding between 2 laptops and i was hoping someone could give me some advice. The 2 choices are:

1. Dell Vostro 1520 ($579)
2. Dell Vostro 3500 ($619)

The specs are quite similar except for the CPU, memory, and display. The display is pretty important to me, so if one supports a higher resolution I would like to give that some weight. but also, I am curious to know about the differences between the 2 CPUs? it is a foreign language to me. The HDD and memory are less important to me (and I am also wondering if I should select windows 64 bit or 32 bit?)

There is a very big discount on the 1520 (I suspect this is because they are phasing it out? Savings over $500). Since the prices are similar, I am not giving them much weight in the final decision. Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it

IMHO the Vostro 3500 with i3-350M is much better than the Vostro 1520. You can upgrade the 3GB DDR3 later when the price will finally drop.

I just sold my Vostro 1320 a few weeks ago. The screen is really good. :)
