Non-Gaming Keyboard recommendation ?

Hi:

My last old school mechanical keyboard has died and I am looking for something w/ the same kinda key feel; don't need gaming features, etc.

I will be using this at work, so I don't want to spend more than I have to🙁i.e. cheap) ;

While I would like a contemporary mechanical the good ones seem to start ~$100 and my budget is , $50

I tried a Logitech Illuminated keyboard: don't like the feel of the keys

Also tried a low end Microsoft model: same complaint

Any suggestions?

If you were using buckling springs, Unicomp has what you are looking for. It is slightly out of your budget, but they are the only ones that own the original IBM patent. If your old board used ALPS switches, there are a few options you could look at.

Being curious, do you remember what your old keyboard was? We might be able to help you get a more modern design of the switch, or even switch things up a bit depending on your wants.

I do wish Unicomp would make a NKRO keyboard. Nothing really matches the magic of buckling springs, and I have problems shelling out $200+ for a 30 year old Model FAT. Buying new just gives me a little more piece of mind. On the other hand, since you are not a gamer and don't need any more than 2KRO, a used Model M might be a great way to save some money vs a new Unicomp. Generally you can find bargin M's for about 30 bucks.
