I recently had an AMD T-Bird 900 give out on me.I turned the cpu on one night and nothing. No video , no POST no beeps or anything. All I got was spinning fans and a hard drive that was starting up.This was on the ECS mobo and I just assumed the cpu was dead.I ordered a new XP1600 to put in the ECS board. This is the XP compatible board. When I turned it on,nothing, same as the 900.I borrowed my kids cpu which is a Duron 700 for testing out here on my board.I put it in and that was even dead.I thought then it was the motherboard.I took the 900 back and tried that on the MSI 6330 board and it did not work on that one(same thing).I put the Duron back in that came out of it and now that one isnt working.I tried the XP1600 in that one,the 900 and the 700 that originally came out of it and none of them would work. Now I have 2 boards that arent workin and all i did was switch cpu's.I took all 3 cpu's to a freinds house and we plugged them in.The XP and Duron worked fine and as originally thought, the 900 was dead. Now my question is,after clearing the CMOS ,unplugging them over night, removing the batteries from the board and even unplugging the power supply to the board,I even removed all non essential components, what is there left I can try to get these boards to work.I can't see how a dead cpu would kill my boards and not my friends board(ECS K7S5A).
