Non DEET Bug Spray/Lotions

I was going to try Skin So Soft, Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent, NOW's Bug Ban, or All Terrain's Herbal Armor. Anyone else tried non DEET products?

It seems like most of the natural products have either/or Aloe Vera, Citronella, Cedar, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Thyme in them in some shape or form. Wonder if these will be as effective?

Avon Skin-so-Soft is one of the best non-DEET mosquito repellents on the market.

They also sell "Expedition," a Skin-so-Soft product that is a dedicated insect repellent.

My wife was an Avon lady for many years. Expedition works very well.

I use Muskol 100% DEET personally. Works even in the north woods of Minnesota.

Can't help you on non-DEET stuff.

The oil of lemon eucalyptus is supposed to be pretty good for a non-DEET product.

I uses whatever I can find with the most. Never seen 100% though.

The tried and true methods for insect repellents is DEET. Always remember that the higher percentage doesn't mean it works better, just longer. Insect repellents don't kill insects, they make you "invisible" to the bugs so if the mosquitos are flying around you, you don't need to apply more as long as you aren't getting bitten. I personally use Deep Woods OFF 30% DEET and I think it does a pretty good job.

Most non-DEET insect repellents aren't as effective as DEET or don't last as long. IMO, the one that probably works as well as DEET contains picardin. I think its the active ingredient in Cutter Advanced.

Try to avoid insect repellent/sunscreen combinations because you trypically need to apply the sunscreen more frequently than the insect repellent.
