Ok so I have been having a problem getting XP to install and wanted to see what help could be given. Every time I install, I get the following message..
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you?ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor or visit http://www.hardware-update.com for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the f7 key was pressed ? it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.
Technichal Information:
*** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x00000011, 0X00000007, 0x0100000e)
Now I did this on my old AU 13 MB and got this message. Flashed the BIOS and kept getting the message. So I grabbed a new MB, and fired it up and got the same message, an ECS N2U400-a, new out of the box!
Now when I bypass ACPI as instructed, the installation will fail about 1/2 way through copying over the files needed for installation. It will say that a file has not been copied correctly. When I retry the file, it will fail again. If I skip the file, it will say the next file in line didn't copy over correctly. If I keep skipping, I will get a blue screen again.
Thoughts?
