Is it 1333, or 1600? Should I get 1333 or 1600 RAM to pair up with it? Would 1600 give me overclocking headroom? Wondering if I should get the GSkill ECO series DDR3, 1.35v, and DDR3-1600 8-8-8-24.

Or the Gskill ECO 1.35v DDR3-1333 7-7-7-21.

My reasoning for the ECO series RAM is to save some power, and give more overclocking headroom.

Looking at this mobo:

I researched a bit earlier and the impression I got was eco comes with lower default voltage, but needs voltage bump to OC higher. Didn't quite sound like a huge improvement over ripjaws, if any at all.

How does that sound? I would have gotten that hadn't it been for my friend giving me some DDR3 to use. Funny thing is the 1333 version of the same thing (same timings too, so probably lower binned) costs heck a lot more

Because the FSB tops out at about 2400mhz on most of these boards, i don't think you'll see any gain above 1600, but i do see a fair gain going to 1333 to 1600, in things like linpack. Real world, you'll probably never notice it. I'm purely CPU limited in my setup, as far as OCing goes. I've tried everything, at it just does like being much above 3.4ghz.

Whichever costs less?

Up-clocking the NB/IMC would boost bandwidth and reduce latencies that would offset the benefit of your RAMs stock speeds.

If you could swing it for $112 AR and shipping the Asus M4A79XTD EVO AM3 790x offers a lot more options.
