nomad II is locked up??

Have a nomad II (0MB, not MG or C). One day, turn it on, and all you see is a continually lit display, no text. no clue why. eventually, i do the reset that's on creative's site. Doesn't work... so i start button mashing and i get the menu! but the memory card is apparently corrupted. but i plug it in the computer usb to try and install/flash it to the latest firmware. and it locks... and i'm back to stage one.

i've tried w/ and w/o the memory, i cannot get past the lit display anymore.

Anyone have any ideas?
