Nokia to iPhone 4 contact migration

Hi guys

Is there an easy way to migrate contacts from Nokia to iPhone 4?

The only way I can find is to export from Nokia to Outlook, and then export from Outlook to iPhone, but this does not work very well.

Any tips?

OK, thats not a whole lotta helpful.
What model Nokia? They make more cell phones than everyone else combined.
Does it use a SIM? Was it on AT&T or T-mobile before?

There is contact syncing software for Nokia, but it requires you to use their proprietary address book instead of Outlook.
 
I migrated from my Nokia N82 to an Android phone and you have several options:

1) Use Google Sync. Use Nokia's Mail for Exchange and sync to Google. The iPhone can then Google Sync. I had several problems with contacts with multiple #s (i.e. cell + home).

2) Use Ovi Sync and download your contacts. You should be able to CSV it that way. I haven't tried this because I hate Ovi.

3) Use a Mac. The Address book sync is flawless. This was what I resorted to on my Android phone. I've heard stories from my friends who plug dumbphones in and their Macs parse the phones and sync perfectly. Well that's what I did. I used my MBP to download my N82 phonebook, and then sync it to my Android phone.

I am in Denmark, so no American carriers for me. The Nokia uses a SIM - I thought all cell phones did?

Ahhhh, well living in Denmark you probably would think that. But here in America we have some services that dont use SIM's. The service info is programmed directly into the phone. Verizon does that.

So for your situation it should be as simple as moving the SIM over.
 
If there are more than 100 contacts on the SIM card though, the iPhone will not migrate those. It will only migrate the first 100.
 
Honestly SIM migration is terrible. It worked on dumbphones for me in the time of the Motorola V600 and stuff, but when I went to SE phones they could only parse each other's formatting. My Symbian based N82 had trouble splitting numbers into categories from my SE phone.

Android didn't do a good job either, so I'm not sure if iOS will either. Outlook is usually a good bet.

OP: Google sync for the iPhone is excellent. The question is how you want to get your contacts onto Google. You might've tried OVI, but I know it gives you a CSV.

If you upload the CSV via Google Contacts (web) from your PC, you might be better off than getting your phone to take a CSV file. Or if you sync to Outlook and use the CSV export there. I just feel like using Outlook might be better than relying on a half complete mobile sync system, especially from Symbian's end. Perhaps thats changed since Feb 2010, but who knows....
 
Nokia to Outlook, then Outlook to iPhone. And sync contacts with Outlook once in a while, it will save many headaches down the road.
