close game, auburn can't argue they should be champions, VT could have easily won that game.

And OSU came within 2 feet of going to losing to A&M.

They won the game, that is all that should matter.

something else has to matter when you have 3 undefeated teams come bowl time.

Doesn't mean anything. What about USC/Stanford, USC/UCLA?

Not to mention VaTech was winning the opener against USC before some VERY bad officiating gave the game to the Trojans

And whatever you pick is wrong. Which is why you just can't defend the BCS.

Three things stand out:

1) Dropped touchdown pass would have won the game for VT.
2) Missed field goal would have tied the game for VT.
3) Missed two point conversion would have gave VT the chance to tie the game.

The clock would not have played a factor in any of these things.

it was 1 call and it was wasnt even near the end of the game, how did that give the game away

USC pretty much pulled away towards the end, not to mention playing in the first game of the year in a 'home' field for va tech

i believe that one call cost tech 40+ yards, a larger lead, and all of the momentum

so if OU wins tomorrow like they should, Au could still grab the AP national title

Yup, essentially took the fans out of the game

No they won't, the AP has already sold their souls to USC and Oklahoma every since opening day.

Auburn would have had to beaten them 51-0 to even have a chance

but they couldnt if USC wins right?

The only way Auburn can claim the championship is if both USC and Oklahoma forfeited or the game ended in a tie

I think it's the Coaches Poll that HAS to pick the winner of the national championship game as no. 1.
Correct me if it's the AP poll instead...i don't remember.

Yes but had the AP not had USC and Oklahoma ranked 1-2 all season and Auburn starting way back, it would have made this game remotely meaningful.

The final score is what matters so all of you AU haters can shove it

😛

VT didn't look that good during this game. Too many mistakes and stupid penalties. If you look at the numbers, they actually put up good rushing and passing yards, but all of that doesn't matter if you can't get in the endzone, or if you keep losing it because of penalties. There were a few key mistakes that could have won the game for Tech, but I just think they looked sloppy.

Well, I'm not an AU hater, I'm a realist and the final score won the game but it didn't win them a part of the National Championship.
