Nokia E71.....thinking of upgrading to it, renewing my T-mobile contract & still saving money.

So I like my T-Mobile service, I have been pretty satisfied with it since 2005 (LOVING THE $6 Unlimited Internet which I ABUSE daily).

I had a 1 year contract that expired back in 2006 and haven't renewed it since then I love the freedom I guess. I initially had the Free after rebate Nokia 6800 (which I liked very much back then), then after my contract expired.....I upgraded on my own to an unlocked Nokia E61 (which is a very good phone) which I personally purchased in 2007 for an excellent price ($250).

Now, the Nokia E71 has been out for a while and it has lots of features that I really needed in the E61 such as AVRCP, A2DP, built-in GPS, Camera, FlashLite 3.0.....etc. So I am planning on getting the E71 fairly soon. The only problem I have with that is that I would prefer NOT to pay the full price ($400 on Ebay) .....I called T-mobile to see if they can give me a rebate on the phone / or if they are planing on getting the phone soon.....instead of me going to another carrier (Rumors of AT&T getting the E71 are floating around) and AS expected the answer was NO but at least I know for SURE now.

So now my potential options are:

Bite the bullet get the E71and take it like a man (of course planning on selling the E61 too eitherway)

OR

And I think this is the most logical option.....renew my T-mobile contract and get some desirable phone, unlock it, turn around sell it on Ebay as soon as I get it make some where near $100-200 and then go get the E71 with $100-200 off from the sale of the T-mobile supplied phone on top of it.

Is there any other option that I am not looking at? Are there any private licensed dealers that can get people non-Tmobile phones for a discount with a contract renewal? I hope there are because T-mobile's phone selection sucks ass all the way.

If you plan to stay w/ tmobile and they dont make you change your grandfathered plan, sign up for the new phone and sell it, then buy your e71. Personally, Id get a G1, so that way, if you dont like it, you could most likely make a pretty penny for it or maybe even trade it straight up for an e71.

Yes that as I has posted is my main plan....I have been considering a G1 since I am such a Linux fanatic.....but the G1 is no where near the finish of an E71 and software platform maturity it's still flaky....however I haven't even thought about getting a G1 to see if I like it then selling it!

Great Idea the sale of a G1 on Ebay is absolute sure fire! Especially if I can unlock it before the sale :0
