Just picked one up on black friday at newegg for $150. Its going to be replacing my sony ericsson W580i. Didn't want to purchase a smartphone through AT&T because they would force me to purchase their data plan. Although this phone is 2 years old it has wifi and seems like it has really good reviews.

i am used to T9 text messaging and do not mind a numerical keypad at all. anyone have experience w/ it?

I bought it a year and a half ago. Build quality is EXCELLENT. All the E-series phones have some of the best build quality on any phones anywhere. Texting is ok. It has T9 predictive on it but since there are 3-4 letters on one button, you are bound to make many mistakes. The screen is small for web surfing but I don't do heavy web on it. Just the occasional email and checking sports. The wifi has a good range on it. The camera down right sucks. Everything has a green tint which is annoying but video record quality is decent. Symbian is extremely customizable and has millions of things you can download for it. Nokia has the Ovi app store but it sucks cus the E51 doesn't support a lot of stuff on the app store. Video playback is choppy but the sound is good. Music playback is good and sounds fine but you need an adapter as it's not 3.5mm but I usually just play music out of the external speaker as it's really loud. The screen gets really scratched as any candy bar phones do and it gets a lot of dust under the screen. Battery lasts a long time. I talk a lot on the phone and text all day and it lasts forever. Also you can download Nokia maps onto a Micro SD card and use that on the phone. I use that instead of GPS on it. It's is definitely not a media phone so if you're used to using your phone for playing back video and tons of MP3's then it may not be the phone for you. I play a lot of mp3's on it but the interface sucks. It's more business oriented but it's a great phone.
