It used to be free to sync Yahoo! and the PC, but now we have to pay for the damn thing :(.

Does anybody know any alternative solutions?

looks like it's still free to me:

Intellisync for Yahoo!
[Help with Sync]
It's the only FREE service that keeps your address book and calendar in sync between your favorite email applications. With Intellisync for Yahoo! you can:

* Back up critical email addresses and contacts from your desktop computer to Yahoo! for safe keeping.
* Access your work calendar from home or on the road.
* Have your schedule and contacts with you on your PDA.
* Save time - make a change once and Intellisync for Yahoo! makes the update everywhere!

Then click the install button

do you not see that button?

calendar.yahoo.com then 'sync' on the upper right

/smacks head.

There's an install button at the bottom of the Sync page.

Probably should get more sleep

But, yea, I never realized that they were [bought out, taken over, merged with, whatever it is] by/with Nokia
